Independence Beach – Sihanoukville
Located just northwest of Sokha Beach, Independence Beach also known as 7-Chann Beach offers a quieter alternative to the busier stretches of sand in Sihanoukville.
While much of the area has been transformed by new property developments, about 500 meters of the beach remain open to the public. This section is lined with around a dozen casual restaurants and bars, creating a welcoming yet laid-back atmosphere.
What to Expect from Independance Beach
Independence Beach is especially famous for its sunset views. As the day winds down, the horizon glows with warm colors, making it a favorite place to relax in the late afternoon.
Compared to nearby Ochheuteal and Sokha Beaches, Independence Beach has a more relaxed and unhurried vibe. It appeals to visitors who prefer a calm seaside experience without large crowds or heavy tourism infrastructure.
Food is a highlight here, with a mix of local Khmer restaurants serving affordable, authentic dishes. This gives travelers the chance to enjoy freshly cooked Cambodian meals while watching the waves roll in.
Although some of the bars and eateries may feel a little run-down, improvements and ongoing upgrades hint at a neighborhood in transition. With development on the horizon, the area is slowly evolving while retaining its rustic charm.
Location & Accessibility
Independence Beach sits slightly farther from the city center compared to other popular beaches, but its peaceful setting and charming local dining options make the trip worthwhile. For those seeking a quieter escape and a glimpse of local seaside culture, it remains one of Sihanoukville’s most inviting coastal spots.
