Located about 40 kilometers off the coast of Sihanoukville in the Gulf of Thailand, Koh Rong Island remains one of Cambodia’s last true untouched paradises.

Adventure lovers will enjoy the High Point Rope Park, which features suspension bridges, rope walks, and zip lines weaving through the treetops, providing both thrills and panoramic island views.

While Koh Rong remains a peaceful refuge, it is quickly emerging as one of Cambodia’s most famous island destinations. Its unique combination of pristine beaches, lush jungles, and exciting adventure activities makes it the crown jewel of the Kompong Som region. Though development is increasing, the island has retained much of its rustic charm, offering travelers a balance of comfort and authenticity.

Getting There

Most visitors reach Koh Rong by boat from Sihanoukville, with several ferry operators running daily services. The journey takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on sea conditions and the type of boat.

Tickets can be purchased at the ferry terminals, online, or through guesthouses and travel agencies in Sihanoukville. Boats usually arrive at Koh Touch Village, the island’s main pier and hub for accommodation, restaurants, and nightlife. Private boats and speedboats are also available for groups seeking more flexibility.

Best Time to Visit

Dry Season (November–April): This is the ideal time to visit, with calm seas, clear skies, and excellent conditions for swimming, snorkeling, and boat trips.

Rainy Season (May–October): The island becomes quieter and greener, offering a more tranquil atmosphere. However, heavy rain and rougher seas can occasionally disrupt ferry schedules.
