Kep Beach is a kilometer-long crescent of white sand near the tip of the Kep peninsula. Recently revitalized with snow-white sand transported from Otres Beach, the shore now stretches about 50 meters wide, creating a soft, inviting setting for relaxation. 

Dining platforms, seafood stalls, and local vendors line the road just behind the beach, making it easy to enjoy fresh seafood right by the sea.

The beach is a popular weekend escape for Khmer holidaymakers, often buzzing with families, picnics, and swimmers. During the week, however, it retains a quiet, almost deserted charm, ideal for travelers seeking peace.

Access and Admission

The coastal road through Kep loops along the shoreline and circles back on itself, passing directly by the beach. Cars and vans must pay a small admission fee (2,500–5,000 Riel) to drive the loop, while motorcycles and pedestrians enter for free. Note: the loop is one-way traffic only, and police occasionally enforce fines against violators.

Getting There

Kep is located about 30 km from Kampot (40–45 minutes by car or motorbike) and roughly 150 km from Phnom Penh (3–4 hours by car or bus). Regular buses and minivans run from Phnom Penh, Kampot, and Sihanoukville directly to Kep. From Kampot, many travelers prefer to rent a motorbike or take a tuk-tuk for a scenic ride along the coast. Once in Kep town, the beach is only a few minutes’ drive from most hotels and guesthouses.

Beyond the Beach

While Kep Beach is the town’s central seaside spot, the true gem lies just offshore at Koh Tonsay (Rabbit Island), a 20-minute ride by longtail boat. Known for its idyllic sandy shores and laid-back vibe, it offers a perfect day trip.
