For those staying overnight, there is a basic guesthouse on the Cambodian side, though somewhat overpriced at around US$8 per night with limited electricity running only from dusk until midnight.

Most journeys begin just east of Stung Treng’s pier, where small bullet boats and freight boats depart for the border. Travelers are advised to arrive before 8:30 a.m. to secure a spot, as departures are limited. The fare is about 15,000 riel (US$3.75) one way. The trip downstream to the border takes around five hours, while the return journey upstream benefits from the strong current, shortening the ride to just over three hours.
