Tour Itinerary
Hotel Pickup & Scenic Drive
At 8:00 AM, your guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel to begin your scenic journey 50 km northeast of Siem Reap to the revered Phnom Kulen, also known as Lychee Mountain.
Considered the birthplace of the Khmer Empire, Phnom Kulen holds deep spiritual and historical significance. The drive takes you up a winding mountain road with stunning views of the Cambodian countryside.
Kulen Mountain Highlights – Sacred Sites & Natural Beauty
Discover the sacred River of a Thousand Lingas, where ancient Hindu carvings are etched into the riverbed, once believed to purify the waters flowing to the kingdom’s rice fields.
Continue to Preah Ang Thom to see Cambodia’s largest reclining Buddha, carved directly into natural rock and cherished as a pilgrimage site. End your visit at the stunning Kulen Waterfalls, a favorite spot to swim and relax in the cool natural pool surrounded by forest, perfect for a refreshing break during your adventure.
Lunch at a Local Restaurant
After a morning of exploration, enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant on the mountain or on your way before continuing to your next destination.
Beng Mealea – Jungle-Engulfed Temple Ruins
A scenic drive for just 7 km southeast of Phnom Kulen, discover the atmospheric ruins of Beng Mealea, a temple shrouded in mystery and jungle. Built in the 12th century during the reign of King Suryavarman II (the builder of Angkor Wat), Beng Mealea follows a similar layout but remains largely unrestored, offering a truly authentic, off-the-beaten-path experience.
Walk through moss-covered corridors, over crumbling stone galleries, and beneath giant tree roots that twist through ancient walls, an experience often compared to Ta Prohm, but with far fewer crowds.
Return to Siem Reap – Hotel
After a full day immersed in sacred landscapes and hidden ruins, relax on the journey back to your hotel in Siem Reap, arriving in the late afternoon.
