Stung Treng Attractions

Ou Chaloy Ratanakiri

Stung Treng Province, in northeastern Cambodia, is known for its stunning natural beauty, rich history, and vibrant culture. Situated along the Mekong River, it offers visitors a mix of ancient temples, lush forests, rivers, islands, and authentic local experiences.

Historically, Stung Treng was influenced by the Khmer Empire and Lao kingdoms before becoming part of the French Protectorate of Cambodia in 1904. The province also experienced communist insurgencies and U.S. bombing during the mid-20th century.

Covering around 11,092 km², Stung Treng borders Laos, Ratanakiri, Preah Vihear, Kratié, and Kampong Thom. With the Mekong, Sekong, and Sesan rivers, extensive forests, and part of Virachey National Park, it is an ideal destination for nature and adventure lovers.
